Starting off point

Postby Dunthall » Fri May 11, 2012 2:05 pm

I will admit to something...Sometimes the beginnings of my missions can be fairly cookie cutter. I am ashamed of this fact and will work on it, I swear! I do a lot of start in a safehouse, get the mission, go from there. But in my current campaign I have started to change that just a bit and plan to do so more.

Does anyone else do the same old thing with the intros or do you mix it up? If so what are some of the more interesting or strange places you have had your Agents kick things off?

A few things to try:
1) interludes - this give some players a chance to explore their characters and backgrounds.

2) attack the safehouse, make them have to find a new one.

3) I sometimes start a game in the middle of a cake mission, just when things are about to go pear shaped. Or it isn't so cake because there's new major info they just learned.

4) do your missions tie together for a larger arc? Each mission can be part of a larger goal.

5) character backgrounds - make it personal. A bad guy learns the real identity of an agent and kidnaps their kid sister.
