This seemed like the right topic heading to use for this message (rather than cluttering things up with yet another new thread).

I just wanted to post a note to everyone still anticipating the work I am doing on the new Shaintar. I wanted to honor your continued support and ensure that it will not be in vain. There is a deadline firmly looming ahead of me (April 12th to be exact), and once I deliver what I am working on by that date, "something really cool" is going to happen shortly thereafter.

I can't get into anything more than that, but please know that what I have pouring out onto the computer screen every day and every night represents some of the most passionate and inspired game design work I've ever done. I certainly hope you'll agree.

I'll be posting a new teaser to the Reality Blurs Notes section on Facebook soon, so keep an eye out for that...

Just noticed this - and thought I'd chime in about Shaintar not being "gritty" enough...

One campaign I ran was very dark, and gritty (random kidnappings of small children, families murdered for interfering, slavery)...and while it didn't last too long (damn work and real life interference), everyone enjoyed it immensely. I should see if I can find the logs of that campaign and repost them...even now two years since that campaign ran, I have some people who still talk about it.

Heck even the few brief sessions I ran for SPF a while back online were definitely not a "unicorns and rainbows" fantasy style. Everything you need to tell any kind of fantasy story exists within the framework of the original Shaintar...and I'm sure the new version will live up to the glories of its forefathers ;)
