A few questions

Postby Lord Soth » Tue Nov 25, 2008 9:27 am

Hey TAG,

I'm loving RE. I have the pdf and have pre-ordered the hardback. I'm actually beginnining a campaign in January, using RE as the setting and the Daring Tales of Adventures for the adventures. I did have a couple of quick questions though.
#1. Will there be GM screen inserts, Figure Flats, and most importantly, a downloadable character sheet?
#2. The pregenerated super hero character in RE has Fly, but Fly is a Veteran level Power. Is this a mistake or is there a setting rule that I completely missed that allows for this?
#3. A better place to ask this one might be on the PEG forums, but here goes. We won't be using the pre-gen characters in my game and I notice one of them is Rich. Does one of the PCs have to have the Rich Edge for some of the adventures work? I'm thinking this character is supposed to be buying plane tickets, equipment and what-have-you for the group.

Thanks in advance!

Such things are in the queue. Your patience is appreciated!

Yep. You missed it. ;) The Ravaged ignore RANK requirements when selecting Edges, both at character creation and beyond, but they still have to meet all other prerequisites. (This is on page 8 under Step 3: Special Abilities, last paragraph.) This, naturally, includes new powers.

I cannot speak directly to this last question, but I can only say that if you review how we suggest handling money in RE, there are multiple ways to make certain such plot complications (ones concerning money) are overcome if they do arise. For example, you can easily introduce a sponsor of some sort or other to propel the story forward. Monetary concerns rarely keep world-traveling adventurers still for very long, unless its necessary to your narrative.

I hope that helps!

Heh... I guess I did momentarily forget where I was. My bad.
I knew that Rank requirements are ignored during character creation, I just didn't realize that also applied to power levels but it makes sense.
I haven't come across how you guys suggest handling money yet but then I'm not that far into the book yet either. I have a difficult time reading PDFs and was going to wait for the actual book to read the whole thing. I'll check out the money suggesstions though. Thanks.
Love Live Ravaged Earth! It rocks. Thanks for an awesome setting.

No worries!

Good to hear! That's one of the many benefits of being Ravaged.

We present a detailed version of money as well as suggesting a more liberal handwave if it's not critical to the narrative you're trying to weave as GM.

Our pleasure. We're glad you're enjoying it.

Say, wait a second!

I bought a softcover book. It's spine is already getting pretty worn (due to me reading the livin' snot outta it 24/7!!).

Does this mean there'll be a hardcover version, or is he just saying "hardback" in the "not-electrons / dead tree" kind of sensibility?

Sean can correct me if I'm wrong, but the only physical copy of Ravaged Earth currently available is the softcover version. A hardcover copy would be very awesome, no doubt about it.

Weird Dave has the right of it. It is just solely available in softback, but there is a limited edition with full color pages and sepia tone artwork in it available directly from Studio2, if you want to be an avid collector.

As far as a hardcover goes, Weird Dave said it would be awesome, and we think so too! I've discussed the possibility of this with Eric, but it will be sometime off before we go down that road. We have a lot of things in the hopper right now, both with this, RoC, ID, and AoO, that it'll take a bit of time to sort out how we want to handle things. For example, some of the things on a hardback wish list for me include: a full plot point, some killer new art, and expanding out some of the points we made with more examples and what-have-you. We'll have to see what the future holds. We are indebted to you and everyone for really taking hold of Ravaged Earth and making it a success!

Ah, I see...thanks for the replies! While I agree that hardcover would be lovely, I'd much prefer you release as much game material as I can snatch up before you go back to do a hardcover. ...Although a hardcover that combines a few splatbooks into one would be even more cooler-er!!!

Like so many, I'm unemployed currently...but when I'm a little more 'solvent' I'll likely get the deluxe version.

hoping the future holds a hardback

Postby AvatarArt » Tue Apr 14, 2009 8:46 pm

I have to admit I was a bit surprised when I got my Ravaged Earth copy (just this afternoon) & saw it was softcover. This makes Ravaged Earth & Shaintar: Immortal Legends, the only 2 Savage Settings not in hardcover right?

In any event, count me among those who'd love to see RE in hardback form to join all its brethren. And if you updated it, well, hey that's just savagely cool.

I also think its important to have pics of the Deluxe Edition's interior; either here or on the Studio2 site. Show off that sepia people!
