Week in review: Writing and Editing and Revamping, Oh My!
Greets.
Last week was a wonderfully hectic week wherein I got a great deal of stuff done. Some of it secret business stuff, some of it is the stuff you guys like to know about- the games. I'm continuing to edit Orwell Industries and got all the art direction out to our newest artist, Julia Bax, last week. You'll really like her style. I wanted to surprise you guys, but thought, what the heck, let's conduct an experiment, as some of the roughs come in, I'll post some of it for your edification in the Powers & Perils section of our newly expanded website. I'm thinking of doing it as a full-on feature from Concept to Product: How it's done. Sure, it'll demistify things a bit, but if you're anything like me, you'll find some of it interesting, if not enlightening. No promises.
I talk about the website work over there, but I'm gonna segue just a bit and stress the fact that the information architecture that I've set up is gonna make it handy to keep you all in the loop about our various product lines. I know, I know, I get excited about some of the weirdest things.
Additionally, I want to comment on the fact that I set this thing up using the Moveable Type Publishing Platform back in November of 2004 and that it truly rocks. I wanted something that'd be easy to maintain then. Something that'd allow me to get the info out into everyone's hands quickly without having to deal with a gazillion pages. It's absolutely been a godsend and I've seen since then a lot of other companies have followed suit. You know who you are. ;)
I'm also editing Agents of Oblivion for True20 WoA. I'm having to make some minor modifications to integrate them into the True20 Core System and it's exciting. I can only say that in the course of this process I got the opportunity to refine and expand the sanity rules I initially conceived for the setting. I'm very pleased. My good friend, Barry Green, one of my harshest critics and a regular sounding board for a great deal of my ideas, thought other players would really like them as well. Barry used to run a wicked game of Call of Cthulhu! Those were the days.
The next few days will be consumed with Oblivion. It does that to me. It comes down like a tiny fragment of a dark star and overwhelms my world. Edits and art direction for AoO await. Art direction is an acquired taste. The more you do it, the more you start to like it. I've got the items outlined that I want, but I'll have to expand it out. Anyway, check out all the links on the site, poke around in the dark corners. I've knocked off all the cobwebs. All the pixels are polished and we've opened the west wing to showcase our products.
Explore.
Regards,
Sean

A Good Week
Hello All...
This week, I'm happy to report that we got a lot of new visitors to the site, in great part, I'd say from our appearance on two other RPG companies websites. We were featured on 12toMidnights website for our work on the dispatch...
Here's what they said...
Modern Dispatch #73: Sundown Cineplex comes courtesy of our pal Sean Preston, President of Reality Blurs. Be sure to check out that site, because there’s no question you’ll be seeing more of Reality Blurs in the future. Between Runepunk and Agents of Oblivion, Sean is poised to take the gaming community by storm. This issue is packed with great adventure ideas, and we hope Sean offers us more great issues like this one in the future!

Many thanks, Preston, I'm hoping to get another adventure to you after I wrap up edits on OI and AoO, and after I polish up the GM's section of RunePunk.
You guys should already know about Green Ronin's announcement, so I shan't repost it. You know their url too, don't ya? :)
So, last week, I was busy dealing with a lot of emails and a lot of webstuff and my first real exposure to posting to rpgnet and enworld and people telling me to keep my eyes on threads where I rarely ever travel...sheesh, it's a lot...
This website will be the hub for Agents of Oblivion. As I've stated elsewhere on the site, I'll be happy to field all questions and let you guys know the hip facts of AoO. I'll drop a few facts on you right now...
Butch Curry said it reminds him of "a cross between the X-Files and Le Femme Nikita". I find that very cool...so, you can extrapolate from that, you'll get into some weirdness and spy stuff...when I say weirdness, I'm talking a great sliding scale of weirdness with gadgets and big guns too. This can be played as subdued as a straight up spy game, like a Bond flick or Splinter Cell, or you can mix it up a bit with the Forgotten Ones, eldritch horrors, and that's not even getting into the archetypes, such as dreamers, cleaners, and carnivores.
Later,
Sean

Idle Hands or What I Did Over Christmas Vacation: Modern Dispatch #73
Greets.
Over the Christmas break, I had a few idle hours and took a break from RunePunk to summon up my dark muse of horror that I'll need for Agents of Oblivion. Preferring to write with a purpose, I conjured up a new character for the Pinebox Mythos and garnered my first writing gig for 12 to Midnight...it's entitled Sundown Cineplex...in it, I reveal a bit of my darker side. You'll find it for purchase here. Ed also wanted me to mention you can get a free map of the city here.
It was a blast to completely rattle something out and see it to completion. A nice sprint compared to the marathons I've been working on.
If you enjoy using it in your d20 Modern Campaign half as much as I enjoyed working on it, I'll call it a job well done.
Later,
Sean

Sugar Crash and Gaming Ideologies
Hello All.
I rarely eat sugary things, but had this giant Rice Krispie that I devoured about thirty minutes ago and am now getting sleepy. It's a dip in my blood sugar level, so if my words seem about as terse and appetizing as stale cardboard, my apologies. Half of my mind is busy fighting off the onslaught of Morpheus while the other half is directing the typing of these words.
*rubbing eyes*
Okay...what's going on with us? Well, over the past few weeks, I've been recovering from being sick, buying Christmas presents, wrapping and unwrapping the same, catching up on my reading, and playing some really nifty video games...such as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. I conquered Batman Begins and am ready to see the movie again. Oh well.
What else? I wrote a Modern Dispatch for the 12 to Midnight guys. It was a lot of fun and now I've added a character to the Pinebox Mythos. Grab it when it goes on sale, will ya? It really got me in the mood for Agents of Oblivion which I'm gearing up for with great anticipation. I stayed away from the computer as much as possible, so rumours of my death are greatly exaggerated. This year is going to be exciting, scary, and productive, and I hope you enjoy what we've got coming out as much as we enjoy working on it.
What exactly is it we're working on? I'll post more either later this week or at least by Monday, but you should already know. Butch is wrapping up Orwell Industries. I'm focusing on RunePunk for the final push towards completion. After it's out the door and at the printers, I'll be greatly happy and feel I've accomplished a neat trick. Then I can settle in to the whole writing role once and for all. ;)
Glad to be back and happy gaming to ya!
Regards,
Sean
