SoCal Bound and a Hint of Magic
Hello All.
It's Friday night. I've been very busy this week, so I apologize if you've popped over here and not seen a particularly clever update this week.
What have I been doing?
I've worked long and hard to make the magical system for RunePunk, well, Magical. In addition to that, I hope I'll be offering up some especially interesting Extraordinary Racial Abilities as well. What have I done with the magic system? You'll see, but suffice to say that it playtested quite well in recent groups and all the players really liked it, just gotta stress test it a bit more.
Additionally, I'm announcing that Reality Blurs will be attending SoCal GenCon and look forward to meeting any Savages that might be in attendance. So drop us a line if you plan on coming.
No art update this week as my artist is working hard on some Halloween projects. ;)
Regards,
Sean

What is RunePunk™?
RunePunk™ is Reality Blur’s name for a whole new genre. Fusing elements of traditional steampunk with dark sorceries, RunePunk™: Steam and Shadows™ is post-apocalyptic adventure in a world on the brink of destruction and redemption.
More on Monday.

Sean

Why is Ned naked? A RunePunk vignette
Hello All.
If you've made it here, chances are you've already seen "Naked Ned" Nails. Who is he? What is he? Why is he naked?
For that, you must understand a bit about the average Ferren and ScatterPoint, so we'll start with the latter and work our way back to dear Ned in a moment.
ScatterPoint is an enormous city that was wrenched out of one reality and thrown into another. After this apocalyptic event, there was a great time when the world was in flux, when peoples from various realities appeared and disappeared in this wasteland of a city. One such people are the Ferren, a ratlike race with a scientific bent. The Ferren helped save the city from being torn apart by the RuneStorms. By their actions, they were trapped in the city with the rest.
That's all in the past for Sir Ned Nails, however. He is an uppercrust gent who some say inherited his money, while others claim he has ties to the Blue Coats. Few bother to find out as Ned is typically a gallant, well-bred Ferren with all the proper appointments to one of his class. From time to time, however, Ned will get in his cups and drink to excess. This causes problems as Ned reverts to the base, wild nature hidden in every Ferren and will take the slightest bump in a barroom as an excuse to cast aside his top hat, shred his waistcoat, and face his imagined threat. People usually give him a wide berth until his servant, Fogel-5, a grizzled Overwrought, scoops him up and carries him back to his WardenCliff home.
Word has spread throughout the city of Sir Ned Nails and his nudity to such a degree that many bars welcome "Naked Ned" with open arms and let him drink for free, assuring a packed house on any evening he chooses to patronize them.

Sean

I'm Going to the Darklands...
Hello and welcome to my world. :D
Today was a long day of reflection and mulling interspersed with writing. I spent as much time as possible curled up with my favorite pen on the love seat with a good old spiral bound notebook surrounded by rulebooks while I selected random thoughts to jot down to develop the wildlands of RunePunk.
I've had these wildlands, these darklands, conceptualized in broad, sweeping strokes for awhile, but I have to cultivate and refine them each to a level of uniqueness, otherwise, what's the point in having more than one?
I've begun that process in earnest more this evening than earlier in the day when I had the fun opportunity of taking a playtest session of Four-Color Savage Worlds. I had put together a Rhino rip-off for my brother who battle numerous cops, a two-man SWAT team, a couple of flying robo-drones, and the robber who beat him to the bank. I'm delighted to say that Savage Worlds wears Four Colors quite well, thank you.
But for now, I'm back in the grime and soot that is RunePunk, among the twisted steel and rubble of a land tortured and transformed by sweeping storms and the Talus. I'm heading out of the City now, leaving behind the tall tower-blocks and the safety of the great Rune Towers. I'm going to the darklands...

Sean

Back to the Reality that is my World
Greets.
After the whirlwind that was last week, I'm back in the groove in earnest. What's that mean? Tweaking out plot points, polishing Savage Tales, and more or less refining everything else for the Demolition Team that comprises my game group.
Speaking of my game group, we got together last night in an abbreviated fashion, my brother couldn't make it and one of the regulars was not in attendance (he knows who he is), so we ended up playing a really great card game and HeroScape and they quizzed me about getting into the game industry.
It was fun and it was strange. I'm tired and still getting over a cold. I need to focus on RunePunk and let all the other ideas gestate for awhile. Tonight's agenda consists of putting together a spreadsheet with all the NE powers so I can easily assimilate them into my head along with the cost, so I'll be able to cross index everything over to M&M as the circumstances warrant. :P

Sean

Green Light...
Hello All.
I mentioned I sent my project proposals off yesterday to M&M (or maybe I didn't mention that.) At any rate, you know that I did now. To my surprise, I expeditiously got an email back from Steve Kenson, the creator of M&M (who, incidentally, is the guy who reviews the queries) who said "I'll be looking forward to seeing the finished products when you're ready to start rolling them out!"
No pressure there, right? Ahem.
Today, I sent off my proposal list to PEG and will anxiously await to hear back from them. It's basically the same list, but since one of the items on it deals with an entirely "other than setting kinda book" I had to wrap my head around how to pitch it. Seemed to turn out okay, just my wording got clunky and I had to rewrite it. A lot. So, I took a break and did the product blurb for RunePunk(tm). I can't believe I shrunk it down so small, but it turned out okay. I am almost tempted to post it here, but I'll save it for the press release. It's slated to come out on the PEG boards along with my licensing announcement. Hopefully, that will occur next Tuesday.
I have everything in place, now. These are just the initial concepts, then I can get down to the good stuff. I may not have much sleep for awhile, but, hey, you guys are worth it. Right?
Regards,
Sean

Step by Step
Today was a sniffingly busy one. I've been fighting a cold and tweaking out my super-ultra secret project plan for the upcoming year. :D
Now, I just have to shoot it out to the powers that be. There are powers that be. There always are, right?
At any rate, I did got SOME work on RunePunk accomplished, despite the barrage of emails and phone calls that seem to nefariously attempt to erode my Muse.
I'm also working on a cool deal for some SUPER goodness in the near future that I hope to announce by the end of the week.
Please stand by.
Regards,
Sean

My Brother in Belize
I am still trucking away, working on the site, thinking about the past few days, and what a spin it's been, when I get an email from my brother who lives in, yep, you guessed it, Belize.
My father told me to send him news of my good fortune, so I sent him the link here. How personal, eh?
At any rate, he liked what he saw, and responded super quickly and said he'd check the site frequently. I thought I'd surprise him and post a note on here. He's about to start a bar in the middle of Belize with his wife, Yuly, and their son, Carlos (who is far too little to help yet, as he is at the age where he can only say, "Mami" and "Papi".)
Hello to you guys down there. We miss you. Pipe some sunshine and rum up this way.
Love,
Sean

From Splash to Dirt
Hello All.
I've managed to reinstall my graphics program and create a prettier main SPLASH page. I hope you enjoy it.
You'll find future updates and developments in this section. I promise, this will make things easier for all parties involved.
Oh yeah, I actually put some of the concept art on the main page. I hope you enjoy that too. I'll sort out the website as things progress and try to avoid any sort of Kafka-esque nightmare of loss and longing.
Regards,
Sean

Back from Archon!
Hello All.
Great news. I've been officially Savaged!!!
I met with Shane this weekend and hammered out the details and he gave me the go ahead to make an official announcement. How exciting is that?
RunePunk will be the first release from Reality Blurs and is a Savage Setting set in a post apocalyptic age of steam and shadow. More details will be forthcoming this week. :D

Sean
