Some Thoughts on the tremulus Kickstarter

Hello All!

I’ve been very active on social media and across the web since the launch of the tremulus Kickstarter, but I only paused to realize today how I’ve not been giving you a daily dose of the Razorwise Report. I admit I’ve thought about it from time to time, but managing a KS is an exhausting, all consuming experience as you can ask anyone who has been involved in one can attest to. I see a lot of folks talk about the nuts and bolts of the business side of things, the marketing, the getting the word out, and all that sorts of jazz, and I can appreciate that, and I want to talk about that too a bit after tremulus wraps and I have a few days to collect my thoughts on the matter.

tremulus is doing tremendously well. Before I dive off into a bit of mad rambling, I want to thank everyone who has supported this effort, spread the word around, and has really helped in spreading the madness. It’s thanks to each of you that this is doing so well. We planned things well in advance, yet we could never plan for how rapidly it took off or how much care and feeding it would need. If you don’t recall or haven’t heard me mention elsewhere, tremulus was initially designed as a passion project of mine I had intended to play with just a few of my friends, a diversion from my other development work, if you will. However, my crew really liked it, and it grew and took on a life of its own, and it’s extremely gratifying to discover so many others want to tell these types of stories and play these types of games. Everyone who has played it has really enjoyed it, and it’s bringing in a number of folks who don’t traditionally play story type games, so that’s pretty cool.

I told you I’d be rambling. Didn’t I?

Well, here’s the plan. The KS ends in two weeks from today, at midnight CST. In the days leading up to the conclusion of the KS, we’re really going to spread the madness by focusing more specifically on various elements of the offerings in the Kickstarter and what tremulus brings to Lovecraftian horror by examining some of the parts of the system. For those already backing the KS, it will be in the form of Updates which we’ll also mirror (at least in part) here on the website for the rest of you to get a better feel of what it’s all about.
