Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked

Despite being a really good song, the title of today’s column is entirely true. This morning, after a late night of playing Black Ops with my daughter, I got up early, shower, shaved, and got ready for an interview with Ron and Veronica Blessing of The Game’s the Thing. My understanding is the show shall be released into the wilds of the interwebs on Tuesday, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted. I thought the show went pretty well. A few things I’ll note: it was strange doing an interview in the morning and when I was relatively well rested. I had a glass of Brisk (which is some sort of fruit punch variant now being offered at Little Caesar’s where we picked up some pizza on Friday night).

Another thing that came to light is I may well have been the most frequent guest of The Game’s the Thing, if you also throw in the Smiling Jack episodes and whatever other incarnations and iterations and expansions of the excellent podcasts released by Ron and Veronica over the years. They’ve got it down to a science, and it’s always a pleasure speaking with them about gaming and just life in general. (But, really, what else exists beyond the bounds of games? I’m just kidding, kids. Be sure to eat balanced meals, exercise, and have contact with other carbon-based life forms beyond those found in front of a game console or around a table perform strange rituals with paper, dice, and cheese curls and random beverages.

See how much I love you all? I gave up one of the few, rare days I actually have to sleep in to get up early and engage in a dialogue about gaming. Alright. There was no arm twisting involved. It’s always a pleasure to talk with folks as passionate about the hobby as I am and who are always so bright and engaging. When the show gets into the wild, I’ll be certain to let you know. There is also a special, special for those who listen to the whole show…

Until next time, I bid you, dear reader, adieu!
